I was skeptical about mixing aged puerh with bergamot, but the citrus cuts through that musty earthiness perfectly. Brewed it for about three minutes and the cup turned surprisingly smooth, with the dark fermented notes lingering underneath.
That earthy puerh base with the bright bergamot on top is such a clever pairing, I wasn't sure they'd work together but it's surprisingly smooth. The citrus really cuts through the mustiness without overpowering it, and it makes a great afternoon cup.
The earthy puerh really balances the citrus instead of letting the bergamot run wild, which I appreciate after trying lighter earl greys. The brew turns a deep amber and steeps fairly forgivingly, though I wish the musty note was a touch stronger for my taste.
