Category: Black Tea

Big Sky Black is a Scottish Breakfast blend, and our boldest breakfast tea. Pushing up to the brink of astringency, without crossing over to bitterness. Notes of dried fruit and leather, with a whisp of smoke hover on the edge. If this tea doesn't wake you up, then we're not sure what will.

This Scottish Breakfast blend pays tribute to everyone who works their tail off to make ends meet. Most folks who grew up in the Big Sky State (Montana) (including many of our staff) learn hard work as a matter of course, whether it's chores on the ranch, long days in the woods, or weary nights waiting tables. We're proud of our work ethic. But we also don't mind a strong shot of something tasty as a pick-me-up. That's where Big Sky Black Scottish Breakfast comes in.

Think of a Charlie M. Russell painting: you see the energy and vigor of the American West—but if you stick with the image, you'll find layers of color and beauty that you didn't notice at first glance. We think good tea should do both: get the job done, and also satisfy on a deeper level.

Thank you for taking us along for the ride.

A made in Montana tea.

Robert O. ★★★★★

The dried fruit and leather notes come through exactly as described, and it's got that real grip on the tongue without ever turning harsh. I've been having it black every morning this week and it cuts through the fog better than any tea I've tried lately.

Elizabeth ★★★★★

Finally, a breakfast tea that actually stands up to a full mug of hot milk without turning weak or sour. The dried fruit and leather notes come through clearly, and that edge of astringency is just enough to wake you up without ever going bitter. I've already ordered my second pouch.

Kevin ★★★★★

The dried fruit and leather notes come through exactly as described, and it’s got that bold kick I need before noon. It pushes right to the edge of astringency but never turns bitter, even with a proper four-minute steep. This is my new go-to for a strong, no-nonsense cup.
